Aquila Scientific has been established to harness leading expertise and technology for the benefit of the nation’s agriculture and food industries. We aim to radically increase the speed and accuracy of diagnosis to make an impact on the fast and efficient treatment of disease.
Professor Sam Abraham is the Founder and Director of Aquila Scientific . Sam has been a very active researcher in the area of “One-Health AMR” with a specific focus on controlling resistant zoonotic pathogens from Australian animals. His research has utilised conventional microbiology and next generation sequencing, robotics and mass-spectrometry techniques along with in-vivo animal models to understand the development and spread of AMR between animals and humans. Sam has led technological innovations in the use of robotics and genomics for AMR surveillance on large numbers of bacterial samples from various sources. He has published over 100 research articles in antimicrobial resistance, genomics, One health and drug discovery and has built a strong collaboration with government, industry and private sector over the past decade attracting over $15M (AUD) in funding.
